A life in clay

I’m Chaucy, a studio potter working out of my small home studio in Paonia, Colorado. My work is rooted in slow craft, thoughtful design, and the simple joy of making something with my hands. I’m drawn to clean forms, quiet details, and pieces that feel good to use every day. The mug you reach for in the morning, the bowl that becomes part of your weekly rhythm, the vase that lives on your table just because it makes you smile.

I came to pottery through a love of both creativity and construction. It is the balance of imagination and technique, softness and structure. Over the years, I’ve found my voice in functional stoneware. These are pieces meant to be lived with, handled, and enjoyed. Every item is thrown, trimmed, and glazed by hand, often in small batches and always with intention.

Living in Paonia shapes my work in ways I’m still discovering. The pace here is slower, the community is deeply creative, and the landscape has a way of grounding you. My studio looks out toward the mountains, and that sense of place finds its way into my process. It is steady, quiet, and connected.

Whether you’re here to find a piece for your home or simply to see what I’m working on, I’m glad you’re here. Thank you for supporting handmade work and the people who make it.
